You Can Help Turn Type One Into Type None
Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease where the body destroys its insulin producing beta cells in the pancreas. Its onset has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. There is nothing you can do to prevent it, and—at present—nothing you can do to get rid of it. The pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone that enables people to get energy from food. People with T1D need to test their blood sugar and give themselves insulin (with injections or a pump) multiple times per day—every day for the rest of their lives. People with diabetes are at constant risk of having their blood sugar levels rise too high or fall too low. These extremes can be life-limiting and life-threatening.
Insulin is not a cure for diabetes, nor does it prevent the many complications that often accompany diabetes: kidney failure, blindness, heart disease, stroke, amputation, and pregnancy complications.
Please support our efforts to raise monies for this year’s Fund A Cure. All Fund A Cure proceeds will be supporting JDRF's encapsulation research. This exciting research will restore insulin independence for 18 -24 months by implanting newly created beta cells into a protective capsule, which eliminates the need for toxic immune suppression therapies.
By supporting Fund A Cure, you can help make a difference for millions of people living with T1D. Thank you for your support!

JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. JDRF collaborates with a wide spectrum of partners and is the only organization with the scientific resources, regulatory influence, and a working plan to better treat, prevent, and eventually cure T1D. As the largest charitable supporter of T1D research, JDRF is currently sponsoring $568 million in scientific research in 17 countries. For more information, please visit www.jdrf.org.
